Koghb Art School Takes Students and Teachers En Plein Air

Every summer, the Koghb Art School organizes a monthlong art camp in the local forest for its students and teachers.  Teachers work hard to expand and develop the programs by offering exhibitions, holiday celebrations, meetings with artists, and symposia.  This experience allows budding artists as well as veteran painters the opportunity to commune with nature and create new works en plein air.

In late August, at the conclusion of the summer arts camp, the Noyemberian municipality and Koghb Art School hosted a "Plein Air Symposium" in Yerevan to showcase the splendid paintings that were created at art camp.

The Koghb Art School has been teaching local youth fine and applied arts since 1999.  Today it is operated by artists and teachers Anna Nasibyan, Arusyak
Pashikyan, and Satenik Ghulijanyan. The school was established to offer opportunities and bring together talented young people, living far from the capital of Yerevan, to appreciate art and enrich their lives through culture.  The town is walking distance from the Azeri border.

Classes are held every day after school and on weekends, and the pupils range in age from 7-18. Students learn drawing, classical painting, carpet weaving, composition, 3D modeling, woodworking, and the history of art. Every year, young people apply to become students at the school. Graduates attend universities throughout Armenia, but regularly return to organize and attend school-related events.

The Koghb Art School is the home of Yereqnuk Handicrafts, which makes a huge variety of HDIF products, including bestselling Armenian letters, hand-painted tea mugs, hand-painted zippered pouches and cases, and hand-painted wooden ornaments.
